The team has already announced plans to double its workforce in order to provide the highest quality of customer service to their customers.
As well as its two directors, Eco Energy GB has two full-time employees. The business has been able to grow thanks to support from North Ayrshire Council’s Youth Employment programme. The scheme aims to increase the area’s youth employment levels to above the national average by 2020 and has proved an excellent source of talented employees. The youth employment programme provides a 75% wage subsidy as well as 50% grants towards training costs for these staff. With extensive support from Business Gateway and North Ayrshire Council, Eco Energy GB has achieved sales of more than £100,000 in its first year.
The firm has made good use of a range of free Business Gateway events from financial management assistance to social media training.
In addition, North Ayrshire Council’s Growth Programme has assisted Eco Energy UK through grant-funding which has ranged across training, website development and marketing material costs. Directors Janine and Lindsay say that, although they put in a lot of hard work, the experience of establishing their own business has been a challenging yet enjoyable one, and they are looking forward to developing their business further in the next few years.
