Established in the 1930s Taylor & Henderson Solicitors and Estate Agents has grown to become North Ayrshire’s largest firm with offices in Saltcoats, Irvine, Kilwinning and Largs.

A combination of strong legal expertise and experience combined with an approachable attitude to our business has seen T&H help tens of thousands of satisfied clients not just in Ayrshire but all over Scotland.

How long have you worked in the business?

Just over 4 years.

How many people do you employ?

We currently employ 30 people but are in the process of recruiting a couple of additional members of staff.

What is the vision for the business?

The vision is to continue to serve the people of North Ayrshire and beyond and help them with their legal problems. We consider ourselves a modern firm and are always keen to implement new technology where possible to improve the service to the client.

What’s a typical day for you?

Having young children, a typical day starts with a frantic exit strategy from the home. Most mornings I have appointments and meetings in Saltcoats but I tend to finish with seeing clients in the Largs office in the afternoons.

Why did the business choose to locate in North Ayrshire?

The business was established in North Ayrshire in the 1930s and has never left!

Best 3 things about working in North Ayrshire?

-          The people

-          The seaside

-          Close to home.

What is your biggest business achievement to date?

My biggest achievement has to be becoming a partner in the firm this year. As a young solicitor (if I still fall into that bracket) it was something I always wanted to achieve. I was fortunate enough that my hard work was recognised and I was appointed a member of the LP on 1st April. Turns out it wasn’t an April Fools despite wide speculation.

Which business person or company do you most admire and why?

I owe a lot to my dad. He worked for some of the major UK house building companies and from a young age I had a keen interest in property and the market. He latterly had a business as a property developer and landlord which also gave me an insight into my future career.

What is a skill you would like to learn and why?

DIY! I am hopeless at it.

What did you want to be when you were a child?

For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a lawyer. Probably more so the type you see in the movies and TV though!  I recently acted for a former teacher of mine and when I asked her if she remembered me she replied “how could I not remember the boy with the red briefcase?” It says a lot.

What do you do to relax away from the office?

Spending time with my family and I enjoy hill/trail running. Looks can be deceiving!

Who is your favourite band?

Kings of Leon.

What is your favourite movie?

The first three Bourne movies

What 3 words sum you up?

Sensible, reliable and (hopefully) fun
